GHOSTS

Ghosts of the Body is a collection of video portraits in which the sensitive performative moment of Butoh (presence and movement) is captured, to express affection for the body while highlighting its anonymity.

Alisa Berger devoted herself to this topic during her DAAD scholarship in Japan. She studied Japanese Butoh techniques, focusing on the teachings of Tatsumi Hijikatas and Kazuo Ohno.

Alisa reflects on the physical and emotional states that were produced within herself during her own performance of Butoh within a poetic narrative form. In these poetic reflections, she engages partly with the writings of Tatsumi Hijikata „Nihonjin to Hijikata Tatsumi - Nikutai no Hanran“.
